Ordering Guidance
Patients with a history of symptoms for more than 1 week may be negative by molecular tests (ie, real-time polymerase chain reaction) and may require serologic testing, which is available through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Specimen Required

Acceptable: Red top
Submission Container: Plastic vial
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Centrifuge blood collection tube and aliquot serum into a plastic vial within 2 hours of collection.
2. Label specimen as serum
