Clinical Information

The keratin antibody clone CAM 5.2 reacts with the low molecular weight (LMW) cytokeratins CK8 and CK7. All simple (one-layered, polar) epithelial cells contain the paired CK8 and CK18, representing the primary (constitutive) CKs of simple epithelia. These LMW CKs are the only ones found in some simple epithelium (hepatocytes, pancreatic acini, most endocrine cells, and proximal renal tubules). CAM 5.2 reacts with cells in a filamentous pattern within the cytoplasm.
