Clinical Information

SALL4 is a zinc-finger transcriptional factor. It is required for the maintenance of embryonic stem cell pluripotency by regulating OCT4 transcription. Staining for SALL4 is useful in distinguishing germ cell tumors from carcinomas, lymphomas, and melanomas.

Cautions

Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity. Stability thresholds vary widely among published literature and are antigen-dependent. Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks.
